Stardust Gems Jewelry, as seen on Instagram with the handle @stardustgemsjewelry, is a jewelry artist based in Canada who has been metalsmithing for 3 years now.

Upon asking what inspired her to start creating jewelry, she said that she was looking for a creative outlet when she decided to try metalsmithing. She's self-taught with the help of many professionals on YouTube. She also shared that at home, they use essential oils for everything so she started with making essential oil necklaces! Her goal is to expand her skillset and start exploring other forms of jewelry soon.

When she was just starting out, she was a little nervous about things like, accidentally melting something, and the like. In addition, getting measurements perfected was also a challenge for her in the beginning.

Having a really beautiful brand name, we were curious as to what was the story behind it. This jewelry artist said she has always loved stargazing and the fact that we are all essentially stardust. In particular, a quote by Nikita Gill resonates with her, “We have calcium in our bones, iron in our veins, carbon in our souls, and nitrogen in our brains. 93 percent stardust, with souls made of flames, we are all just stars that have people names.”

We asked if she remembered that one big AHA! moment for her when creating, and she said getting a perfect solder flow is always satisfying!

Here are a couple of designs created by Stardust Gems Jewelry!

As per her design style, she shared with us that she usually takes her time when making each piece. Adding that she doesn't like to rush or make something without giving it her full attention.

When we asked her to describe her design style, she said that she loves the look of brass and mainly work with it but also use silver. Moreover, she mentioned that she wouldn’t put herself in one particular category of style. "Eclectic would be a good description," she adds.

What's one design tip you one to share with your fellow artists?

"I don’t have a particular design tip. I am still learning myself but I take inspiration from nature, places, a variety of styles. I try to combine them into something unique."

Any words of encouragement or tips to those who are starting out in the world of jewelry-making?

"As with anything in life, perseverance is key. When feeling frustrated remember the quote “The most valuable thing you can make is a mistake-- you can't learn anything from being perfect.”"
